The mission…”to assist children who have been removed from their home due to abuse and /or neglect: instilling hope for the future and comfort as they go through this trauma.”
Brave Heart’s Goal: To provide services to each parish in the state of Louisiana. Currently Brave Heart serves 37 parishes. The Office of Community Services distributes Brave Heart gift bags to each child who has been removed from their home due to abuse and/or neglect. Each bag contains items of comfort, self esteem and personal hygiene.
Programs:
- Birthday Program: Each child living in a group home receives a personalized birthday cake; flavor of his/her choice, candles, plates, napkins, and a gift.
- Christmas Program: Provide Christmas gifts for all children who are in foster care or group home care.
- Life Book: Brave Heart has developed fun sheets that the children can fill out and color. These sheets help to provide a basis for a “journal of life” for these children.
- Scholarship: Three scholarships are awarded per semester for children who are or have been under the care of the Office of Community Services. Study must be in the areas of Engineering, Medicine, or Education.
- Refurbish OCS Visitation Rooms: The Office of Community Visitation Rooms are being refurbished to give the children a better environment for their visits with family or staff members.

- Volunteer to wrap gifts for our Holiday Project
Brave Heart hosts one annual fund raiser each year. The fundraiser, “Cherish the Children,” at White Oak Plantation. Brave Heart supports all programs from donations and this one fundraiser.
